SEASON CLOSURE, CUPS AND SEASON 2020/21 START UP

As most will already know the 2019/20 season has been closed in keeping with the guidance given out by the FA and Hampshire FA. All the outstanding fixtures in the Under 7 through Under 11 age groups (i.e. development football) have seen all remaining fixtures removed from FA FullTime. In the older age groups (i.e. Competitive) the remaining outstanding league fixtures have been decided based on a formula (average points) and this has produced divisional winners and runners up - all has been updated on FA FullTime.

As for the various league cup competitions, and in line with Hampshire FA, a number of other leagues and indeed our own club voting, we’ve decided that we would attempt to complete any cup competition that has reached final or semi-final stage - any not at those stages will be cancelled. Of the ones that are at semi-final or final stage we hope to get the remaining knock out games and finals done at the very beginning of next season. As soon as is possible we will be talking to the teams involved about their players and availability in September whilst searching for suitable venues. It’s likely that a number of the cup semis and finals may end up being scheduled for mid week due to availability of suitable venues during daylight hours on a weekend day.

We are hoping to start next season in September but use that entire month for finishing off the cups, friendly warm up games for transitioning age groups, the odd club tournament and perhaps some divisional seeding games. Then once we get to October league and cups can kick off the 2020/21 season. With a delayed start we may need to restrict division sizes so as to avoid overrunning the end of May 2021, especially if the winter weather sees fit to throw in yet more spanners.

On the upside….. a delayed season start will give clubs more time to get all their players registered on FA FullTime !

If it transpire to be the case that we are prevented from starting to play in September, then we will need to re-apply the thinking caps again, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on everything to get everyone back on the pitch as soon as is permitted.

LEAGUE MEETINGS & VENUES

Annual General Meeting
The league’s AGM was scheduled for June 11th at Princes Hall in Aldershot (7.30pm) – but this will not take place. In this light we have recently applied to Hampshire FA to re-schedule the AGM to Thursday 23rd July - we’ll let you know more when we know.

Clubs New to NEHYL
Whilst it’s usually a formality, ‘new’ to NEHYL clubs have to be voted in /approved by existing members, so when we do hold the AGM we’ll vote the ‘newbies’ in.

Meetings
Will be held at Princes Hall in Aldershot if government restrictions have been lifted and the Princess Hall has a suitable slot for us in their booking schedule. Failing a face to face meeting the AGM may end up being held virtually or by email, but either way copies of the AGM agenda, minutes and associated paperwork will be sent with details of arrangements in due course.

Mandatory ?
No matter which method of meeting we end up using, each club will need a representative in attendance.
SEASON 2020/21 Under 10’s - Size 3 Balls
FA rules are changing from season 2020/21 the U10 age group are to start using size 3 balls, matches & training of course.

NEHYL Presentation Nights 2020/21
Princes Hall is not opening in June and we’re still in lock down - so the planned presentation nights cannot proceed this season. The intention is that at least some of the trophies and medals will be handed out, but as of right now we don’t know how, when or where - we’ll keep u posted

County Affiliations
We’re aware that both Surrey FA and Hampshire FA are waiving affiliation fees for 2020/21. Clubs will need to keep checking back with their county FA for details of when/how to get your 2020/21 affiliation done

Club Registration
In the last few days we’ve extended the deadline for clubs to register with NEHYL for 2020/21 until 30th June. No money is due until we send out invoices and that is unlikely to be before August, depending on when we’re allowed to start kick a football again.

NEHYL Club Fees
We expect to be heavily discounting entry fees for the 2020/21 season for clubs renewing their membership from last season. 2019/20 – more details to follow once we get a bit nearer to the start of the season

NEHYL 50th Anniversary
While we figure out where we’re at as regards financial resources we are very likely to postpone the planned celebration until season 2021/22 - we’ll keep you posted !
