LEARN MORE

NEHYL Girls Divisions

Having listened to member clubs concerned over the distances our younger players are travelling across the Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey borders we are running U7-U11 teams once again in this local area. NEHYL is perfectly positioned geographically and has a 50+ year history of successfully running grass roots football for children from U7 to U18.

Girls’ football continues to go from strength to strength

We know the vast majority of our member clubs unequivocally support this initiative and are keen to reduce travel time, link with local teams across county borders, and build lasting relationships. NEHYL will also be running festivals and tournaments for the girls during the coming season.

NEHYL Girls’ U12 to U18 Flexi League

Format

  • A monthly Festival
  • One or two matches a month – teams choose how many games they want to play.
  • Non-competitive 7 aside matches, but teams can start by playing 5 or 6 aside matches while they increase their squad size
  • No offside
  • Sunday morning football but can play early afternoon if both teams agree
  • Results and divisions will not be published.

Aimed at teams and players playing locally

  • New to football, or for teams and players that are inexperienced or who are development players
  • Perfect for players that are not experienced enough to play competitive football in Hampshire and Surrey leagues but are part of a squad that plays competitive matches
  • Who only want to play non-competitive football or who are not yet confident enough to play competitive football.
  • Who want to progress to play competitive matches in the Hampshire and Surrey leagues but are not yet at the required level to play in the relevant leagues.

Not suitable for

  • Teams who are strong enough to play competitive football but are struggling for players.
  • Strong footballers who just want to play local matches - this is a development league.

Reasons to enter a team

  • You are giving local girls the opportunity to learn football in an ideal supportive environment
  • Perfect entry level football for girls new to football – they would otherwise have to play 9 or 11 aside matches with offside, which is unsuitable for beginners/development players.
  • Unlike local boys, the girls did not get the same opportunities to start playing football when they were 5 and 6 years old, but it is not too late to give them the chance now.
