NEHYL 3v3 Preparations
NEHYL have been making preparations over summer for 3v3 for Season 2026/27
Teams
Will play in a 3v3 format in keeping within the current FA guidelines & rules. (2v2 can also be played but ideally on the minimum sized pitch.)
Player age clarification
- 5 year olds may not play until they are 6
- 6 year olds should only play in Under 7s
- As soon as a player reaches their 7th birthday, they are eligible to play up a year into the Under 8s
Pitch Marking
Cones are fine for pitch marking, so having neat white lines is ‘nice, not necessary’
Respect Barriers
Respect/Pitch Barriers – are highly recommended so as to keep spectators on the side lines and players on the pitch
Playing Time
Players may only play 40 minutes of match play in a day, for example, 5 x 8 minute games is a nice round number !
Teams
NEHYL team entry charges are based on teams/squads consisting of up to 9 players. All players can be cross registered over all teams registered in the age group at the same club.
Hubs
We have identified a number of ’3v3 hubs’ where games will take place each weekend. Clubs who are already on board as hubs are:
- Badshot Lea
- Camberley Town Youth
- Churt Juniors (possibly)
- Crookham Rovers
- Eversley & California
- Fleet Spurs
- Hawley Youth
- Hartley Wintney
- Rushmoor Community
- Rushmoor Saints
Anyone else who is interested should email nigel.welch@nehyl.org.uk ASAP but note, each venue has to support at least 6 x 3v3 pitches with goals. If you’re interested we would strongly recommend you give due consideration to available parking & possible congestion alongside other age group fixtures at the same venue on the same day.
Pitch Facilitators
Each team will need to provide ‘Pitch Facilitators’ with every 3v3 team they operate and whose role on a match day (with a whistle) will include:
- starting the game
- timing the game
- guiding the kids – so they run back to the halfway line when the ball goes out of play, or they run back and touch their goal after scoring a goal
- overseeing play and stopping play in the event of an injury &/or that players play the game fairly
Pitch Facilitators will need to have a current FA DBS and FA Safeguarding Children certification Separate additional advice on Pitch Facilitators will follow before the first fixtures take place.
Fixtures & Hubs
- Each week the hubs will be asked for their pitch availability
- Each week teams and their players will be asked for their availability and how many players they will have
- Teams who don’t respond in time will not get any fixtures !
- Armed with the answers to these two questions, fixtures will be set and distributed
- Fixtures and matchday information will come via an app (a bit like Tournify) we are developing
There’s An App For That
We are working with YourZown and are developing an app for PCs, Android & Apple devices which will (hopefully) make things easier & flow – but as the old saying goes…… to err is human, to really muck up takes a computer!
Season 2027/28
Whilst this first season is likely to be a bit chaotic, armed with the experience gained we will review how things are done for next season.
A lot more information has already been circulated and will continue to flow over the coming weeks & months – please keep your eyes peeled on your emails, our web site & the FA website
