England Football National November Volunteer of the Month Award

4 January 2024

Girls’ football continues to go from strength to strength for the U7 and U8 teams

Starting from nothing in September, we are pleased to report that we have just passed our 25th girls team registering to play. All of these are new teams to football; and the vast majority of the players are also new to playing in teams. We are already working with County FA to understand our mandate for next season so that we can continue to build on the foundations that have been put in place this season.

Testament to the work that the league – and in particular Suzanne Swan who leads this initiative – has achieved in such a short space of time was the decision by England Football to award their National November Volunteer of the Month accolade to Suzanne. The award was presented during the hugely successful Girls’ festival held at Weydon School, Farnham, in early December where 20 teams took part comprising around 150 players supported by several of our promising young female referees. If your club wants to get involved, then do get in contact – there’s more information here or drop an email to girls@nehyl.org.uk
